The Trial

After all of the jurors are seated in the box, the trial will begin. Whether it is a civil or criminal case, your duties are the same. In a criminal case, you will determine whether the state has proved that a defendant is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. If you find the person guilty, you will then have to determine the sentence. In a civil case, you will decide which side has met its burden of proving that there was or was not a wrong committed and whether there are any damages.
