The Arkansas Court Improvement Program is proud to present Children in the Courts, Arkansas's annual child welfare and family law conference, for its 20th year. This event brings together experienced professionals from the many fields which have direct contact with children and families involved in the court system who will provide substantive information and practical tools to help attorneys advocate more effectively. This year, the conference has a theme: Making the Record. Many sessions will be focused on trial tools, strategies, and best practices to insure a proper record for appeal.
Registration is now open for those interested in early bird rates. Register online or complete and mail the registration form provided.
Early Registration has been extended through Saturday, April 21st . In honor of Record Store Day, early bird prices are extended to 11:59 PM Saturday night, April 21st.

- Vivek Sankaran, Clinical Professor of Law and the Director of the Child Advocacy Law Clinic and the Child Welfare Appellate Clinic at the University of Michigan Law School.
- Currey Cook, Director of the Youth in Out-of-Home Care Project and Counsel for Lambda Legal, and Ethan Rice, the Fair Courts Project Attorney for Lambda Legal which focuses its work on issues of judicial independence, judicial diversity, access to justice, and combating bias in the legal system. Lambda Legal is the oldest and largest national legal organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and people with HIV.
- Janie Ginocchio, Lead Policy and Program Analyst with the Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care, will speak on adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), statistics showing Arkansas has the highest percentage of children in the nation who have experienced at least one category of ACEs, and the long and short term impact of toxic stress.
