Judge Meredith B. Switzer is a Hot Springs native who graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 2001 with a B.A. in Political Science.  She graduated with honors from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, William H. Bowen School of Law, where she served as Executive Editor of the UALR Law Review and as Regional Semi-Finalist for the UALR Trial Team.  Judge Switzer began her legal career as a Litigation Associate at Rose Law Firm, a Professional Association, but left private practice after several years to pursue a career in public service.  In 2009, Judge Switzer joined the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office and was eventually promoted to Deputy Attorney General of the State Agencies Department.  As Deputy Attorney General, Judge Switzer managed a team of attorneys who served as legal counsel for all State agencies, boards, and commissions, as well as most of the State’s two-year colleges.  In December 2016, Governor Hutchinson appointed her as District Judge in Garland County following the passing of her father and predecessor, the Honorable David B. Switzer.  Judge Switzer served for two years on the District Court bench in Garland County.  Once her appointment ended, Judge Switzer served as legal counsel for a local non-profit, Quapaw House, Inc.  In April 2019, Judge Switzer was called to serve on the Arkansas Court of Appeals, to fill the remainder of the term of the late Honorable David M. (Mac) Glover, whom Judge Switzer holds in the highest esteem. 

Judge Switzer is a member of the American, Arkansas, and Garland County Bar Associations.  In 2017, Judge Switzer was awarded the first-ever Veterans Justice Outreach Partnership Award by the Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs for her work with veterans through the Garland County Veterans Specialty Court.  She is a former member of the William H. Overton Inn of Court and Leadership Greater Little Rock Class XXI.  She serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for Mid-America Science Museum and the First United Methodist Church Child Development Center, where her daughter, Ana Blaise, attends school.
